I was reading "US Scientists enlist clergy in evolution battle" (though I'm not sure that's the best headline), and I ran across the following quote:
"'The intelligent design movement belittles God. It makes God a designer, an engineer,' said Vatican Observatory Director George Coyne, an astrophysicist who is also ordained. 'The God of religious faith is a god of love. He did not design me.'"
If I were an engineer, I would be offended. I can't see how claiming that God put together the whole universe belittles him. |

Hell, I think even calling it a "HIM" belittles "God".
;)
I don't think scientists need the help of the clergy. I'm so sick of people who are against certain issues related to seperation of church and state then resorting to the use of quoting religious people who support "our side".
Who the fuck cares what they say their ancient book says about the issue?!?
Let's base our decisions on known fact and how things effect people on THIS plane of existance already.
I've been seeing a lot of articles quoting priests on evolution/ID lately. It seems like reporters think that evolution/ID needs the credibility of religious leaders. This rather boggles me.
So, what are you doing today? I need to find someone to help me out this morning/today... I managed to break my phone last night, yes I AM AWESOME and I do have a list of people to ask, but if you wanna hang out......
Unfortunately, Mondays are gaming nights for me. If post-2100 is good for you, though, that might work.
Tomorrow, I'm pretty free after work, though I'm thinking about doing laundry.
I can do laundry. ;)
lol, alright, we'll keep in touch.
Otherwise, late is ok.
You know my email address and phone number, right? (It's on my profile.) I think I used to know your IM id, but not sure if I still have it. | |
